News in Florida is buzzing about the Space Coast man who has purchased and is now restoring astronaut Neil Armstrong’s 1967 Marina Blue Sting Ray Corvette.

Crosby purchased the car earlier this year from an unknown seller in Georgia, but he’s not telling how much he paid for it. The early astronauts were famous for their love of Corvettes, and the 1967 Corvette owned by Gus Grissom was sold in 2007 at auction for $275,000. Crosby is only the third owner of the vehicle.

The car is a piece of history, not just another restoration project. As such, a team of experts is working on the project. In addition to Crosby, there’sĀ Eric Gill, a restoration expert who’s leading the endeavor, and an Ormond Beach photojournalist namedĀ Roger Kallins capturing every moment on film. At present, there’s no projected completion date. The team seems determined to do it right, not quickly…as a historical project like this deserves.
